East Africa's Pamoja Bid from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations nears its fate.

East Africans are holding their breath as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) gears up to unveil the host country for the much-anticipated 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The decision, which has been shrouded in suspense, will finally see the light of day on September 27 during a pivotal meeting of the CAF executive committee in the bustling heart of Cairo, Egypt.

Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda have been fervently vying for the honor of hosting this prestigious tournament, presenting a united bid back in May.

The bid gained immense momentum, with the strong backing of the respective heads of state from these East African nations.

In a bid to ensure their readiness to host this grand sporting event, Kenya has taken proactive measures by closing two major stadiums for extensive renovations.

These renovations encompass the iconic 30,000-seater Nyayo Stadium, the colossal 60,000-seater Moi Stadium in Kasarani, the Kipchoge Keino Stadium, and the brand-new Jamhuri facility aptly named 'Talanta Sports City.'

"We are doing this because of time, we are extremely pressed for time. We must beat very strict deadlines in delivery. We are also doing this because we want discipline and efficiency, top-tier discipline and efficiency. We want precision, and we believe that the ministry of defense ticks all those boxes,” Sports CS Ababu Namwamba told reporters.

The collaboration among Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda under the banner of 'East Africa Pamoja' not only emphasizes their collective ambition but also their individual readiness.

Tanzania and Uganda have equally demonstrated their preparedness, contributing to the bid's strength.

"In terms of readiness, we have given a deadline of 2025 to complete these facilities," Namwamba added, reaffirming the commitment to meet the stipulated timelines.

The Africa Cup of Nations is a premier football event that not only showcases the continent's football prowess but also serves as a platform for unity and celebration. The selection of the 2027 host will carry great significance, as it will set the stage for another memorable tournament.
