Despite his bitter relationship with the Arsenal faithful since his departure in 2009, Adebayor has revealed the signing that could land the title for the Gunners
Controversial former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed he was 'rooting' for the Gunners to win the league title last season, further revealing the one signing that will propel the North London outfit to finally clinch the league for the first time in 20 years.
The former Togo international was a star for the club in his three seasons before leaving to join Manchester City.
In 2007/2008, Adebayor scored 30 goals as the Gunners fell short by three points, and he says that last season’s near miss to Manchester City after leading the race for 93 percent of the season reminded him of that year when Arsenal should have won the league but did not.

Adebayor has hardly had an ideal relationship with the Emirates faithful since departing in 2009 but has admitted he was rooting for the Gunners during last season's title race.
"Last season we were all rooting for them to win the league and they came very close,” Adebayor told Sky Sports.

"So when I saw them starting to drop points, even when Man City were several points behind, I said listen to me, I don’t know whether there is a curse on the club but it’s going to be difficult for them to win the league."
Adebayor has revealed that Declan Rice could be the leader that could finally make them take that one final step into the promised land after falling short last year.

"But let’s put it into perspective. Where they were coming from and what they did last year was incredible. They finished second and came so close to winning the league.
“With Declan Rice, they have bought some good players. They have actually invested to win the league and go far in the Champions League. It’s my old club and I wish them the best of luck."
The Gunners are currently second, level on points with neighbours Spurs and boasting a near-identical record, they find themselves below Ange Postecoglou's side due to an inferior goals-scored tally.
