Conte’s desire for offensive quality
As Pulse Sports reported, Napoli, despite their high position in the Serie A log (2nd), rank last among the top eight in the Italian top flight for goals scored this season.
The Partenopei have left a lot to desire in front of goal this campaign, and it proved costly last weekend when, despite their dominance, they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Lazio, which meant they surrendered the top spot to Atalanta.
Following the game, Conte praised his team's performance but admitted that they needed to be more “qualitative in the final third.” With Lukaku’s struggles in the past two months, Conte's comments could be construed as personnel-based, and with a guaranteed goalscorer in the person of Osimhen whiling away time in Turkey, it is reasonable to suggest a return for the Nigerian.
Conte sets sight on Zirkzee
However, the Italian seems to have moved on and instead has his eyes peeled on Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee to solve their attacking problems.
According to Italian publication II Matino, Conte specifically named the Dutch striker in his demand list for sporting director Giovanni Manna.
Zirkzee only recently joined Manchester United. He signed over the summer for a reported £36 million deal from Bologna. However, he has failed to truly impress his new employers. It remains to be seen if the Red Devils will entertain talks of an early exit even in a mere loan capacity, but a swap deal with Osimhen could open up possibilities.
