The England national team player was mistakenly linked to Kenya protests through a fan's tweet sparking misinformation.

On Thursday, the Kenyan social media scene was swept into a frenzy when a tweet allegedly from Chelsea and England midfielder Cole Palmer expressed solidarity with anti-tax protests in Kenya.

However, it soon emerged that the account was not Palmer’s but that of a fan, causing confusion among supporters of the 'Occupy Parliament' movement.

"I'm fully supporting my Kenyan brothers and sisters 🇰🇪 #REJECTFINANCEBILLW024 #RejectTheFinanceBill2024," reads the tweet which appeared to be from Palmer.

This message was quickly amplified by Kenyan users and football fans worldwide, believing that the Chelsea star was directly involved in their cause.

The timing was critical, as the tweet emerged amidst nationwide protests against a controversial finance bill, lending significant weight to the movement.

However, Pulse Sports has confirmed that the account is a fan-operated entity and has no direct links to Palmer.

The fan account's tweet had already made rounds across various platforms, misleading some protestors and supporters into thinking that Palmer had an active role in the demonstrations.

The fan-led tweet coincided with significant activity in the Kenyan protests.

Thursday saw the #RejectFinanceBill2024 gaining traction after several large football fan pages joined the conversation.

Pages like Troll Football, CFC Janty, and UTD Trey, with followers ranging into the hundreds of thousands, shared a poster featuring a clenched fist, each echoing a supportive message for the Kenyan protests.

The support from such high-profile accounts contributed to a surge in visibility for the cause.

The Troll Football account posted, "Troll Football Stands with Kenya!" while CFC Janty and UTD Trey expressed solidarity through posts like, "We are with you Kenya!" and "I'm with you Kenya!" respectively. Even The Lampard View, another popular fan page, chimed in, stating, "Let's take advantage of Football Twitter's power. We are with you Kenya!"

Meanwhile, back on the sports field, Cole Palmer's career continued unaffected by the online tumult.

He remained on the bench during England's latest match, a 1-1 draw against Denmark, where the team's performance did little to stir excitement.

The game saw Harry Kane score early, only for Denmark to level the score through a spectacular goal by Morten Hjulmand.
