One big-money Chelsea player is reportedly keen to join Barcelona due to his limited playing time at Stamford Bridge.

Barcelona have been presented with an opportunity to acquire Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, according to reports in Spain.

The French international's future at Stamford Bridge appears uncertain despite this season’s return to fitness, as Enzo Maresca prefers Nicolas Jackson to lead the attack.

Nkunku arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for a fee of £52 million from RB Leipzig, but a first season marred by injuries limited him to just 11 Premier League appearances.

However, he has enjoyed better luck this season, scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions.

Regardless, he has started just two Premier League games this season, compared to five starts in the Conference League, where Maresca has opted to rotate his squad.

This lack of regular playing time has led to speculation about Nkunku's future, with reports suggesting interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and his former club Leipzig.

According to Spanish publication Sport, Nkunku's agent, Pini Zahavi, has offered the 27-year-old to Barcelona.

The report indicates that the France international is eager to leave Chelsea, either in the January transfer window or at the end of the season, in search of more consistent first-team opportunities.

However, it remains to be seen if Barca have the wherewithal to sign the attacker, due to the club’s unique financial issues.

What next for Nkunku and Chelsea?

Nukunku hopes to start his third Premier League match for Chelsea when the Blues host Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
