The Blues seem to have gotten their own Guardiola after Enzo Maresca's recent run and milestone
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has etched his name into Premier League history by matching a record held by his former boss Pep Guardiola after the Blues’ 3-0 win over West Ham.
Chelsea’s dominant display against West Ham
Chelsea continued their recent fine form with a commanding 3-0 victory over West Ham as Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring just four minutes in,,capitalising on a quickly taken free-kick by Jadon Sancho that left the Hammers' defence flat-footed.
Jackson doubled his tally before the break, finishing a perfectly timed through ball from Moises Caicedo, before Jackson turned provider, assisting Cole Palmer for Chelsea’s third goal just two minutes into the second half.
Palmer’s clinical finish off the post put the game out of West Ham’s reach, sealing a dominant away performance for the Blues.
Maresca matches Pep’s historic start
Thanks to the 3-0 win over West Ham, the Italian tactician has become the first manager to win his first three away Premier League games since Guardiola achieved the feat with Manchester City in 2016.
With Chelsea in a rich vein of form, the Blues are now on a five-game away winning streak in the Premier League, a feat not accomplished since December 2021 under Thomas Tuchel.
Maresca’s quick adaptation to the Premier League has seen his previous comparisons to his mentor Guardiola grow, despite the Italian gaffer’s insistence that they are very different.
Chelsea fans will be hoping that Maresca can replicate more of Guardiola’s success with Manchester City as they look to finally profit from their expensively assembled squad.
