The Ecuadorian midfielder has been ranked as the best in the world in his position and age group
Chelsea’s record signing Moises Caicedo has been named the best holding midfielder under the age of 23 for the 2023/24 season by the CIES Football Observatory.
The Ecuadorian midfielder earned a rating of 86.7 out of 100, topping the list ahead of some of the biggest names in football.
Caicedo dubbed best holding midfielder under 23
Caicedo joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for a British record transfer fee of £115 million from Brighton & Hove Albion after a financial duel between the Blues and Liverpool.
The 22-year-old is apparently justifying his valuation after consistent performances throughout the season earned him recognition within the football circles.
The Ecuadorian has featured in almost every minute in the Premier League this season for the Blues, only being rested in cup competitions, and his contributions for Chelsea have seen him recognised as the best in his position and age group throughout Europe.

Caicedo beat out tough competition to secure the award including Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga who scored 83.1 in CIES’metrics, while Paris Saint-Germain’s Warren Zaire-Emery scored 81.6.
Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo was fourth with 80.2, while Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch came in at fifth with a score of 79.0.
Despite their impressive performances, including Camavinga helping Real Madrid to the Champions League and LaLiga double, Caicedo’s all-around contribution to Chelsea helped him claim the top spot.
