The Blues are also said to have already spoken to at least four other candidates.
Chelsea have reportedly held talks with Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim over the possibility of taking over the London club next season.
Amorim won the Portuguese league and cup double in his first season with Sporting and has been linked with the Blues, who have now spoken with him.
To appoint Amorim as the next manager, Chelsea will have to pay his release clause of around €10 million (£8.7m).
Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are understood to be in no hurry to decide who will be the club’s next manager.
Currently, Frank Lampard is in charge on an interim basis until the end of the season. Lampard’s arrival was necessitated by Chelsea's decision to sack Graham Potter on the back of poor results.
