He is expected to inherit the Stamford Bridge hot seat next season from Lampard, who is in charge on a temporary basis.
Chelsea have agreed on a deal to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager.
This means the Argentine is set to make a return to the Premier League after being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in November 2019.
Pochettino, 51, will permanently succeed Graham Potter, who left Chelsea in April after being in charge for about seven months.
The tactician has been out of the managerial job since he was sacked by PSG last summer after taking charge of the Ligue 1 heavyweights for 18 months.
Despite overseeing Spurs for five seasons, Pochettino never lifted a single trophy with the North London club.
However, his remarkable achievement was when he led Spurs to the 2019 Champions League final, which they lost to Liverpool. In the 2016/17 season, Tottenham finished second as Chelsea won the league title.
Meanwhile, Gary Neville previously explained why Pochettino is the right choice for the Blues.

"Based on what [Chelsea co-owner Todd] Boehly has said, Chelsea have done their spending for the next three years - apart from signing a centre-forward," Neville told Sky Sports in April.
"If they appoint Zinedine Zidane, Luis Enrique, or Diego Simeone, they're going to want to have another £300 million as they won't like some of the players they've previously signed.
"They've got to appoint a manager who is going to inherit and like the squad that they've got - a lot of them are young - and I think that man is Mauricio Pochettino."
