After a three-year hiatus, Chapa Dimba na Safaricom is back with a bang like never before. It is bigger and better, with more incentives compared to previous seasons.
It is a national grassroots football tournament created in partnership with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). It was launched in 2017 with the aim of giving young people aged 16-20 (boys and girls) a platform to showcase, nurture and earn from their talent.
For the first two seasons, the tournament was instrumental as it offered an opportunity to the players to positively impact the community.
It has also enabled FKF unearth gems that have gone on to make a career out of the game, both in the men and the womens’ categories.
Players such as Gor Mahia hitman Benson Omala, who is on course to break Maurice Ochieng’s long-standing record of 26 goals in a single FKF Premier League season, were unearthed from this tournament.
Others include Tusker FC’s David Majak and Harambee Starlets' Jane Njeri and Cythia Livondo.

What is Chapa Dimba na Safaricom?
It is a national grassroot football competition that enables pathways to education and professional football as well as addressing key community needs of health and economic empowerment.
How to enroll?
There will be countrywide online registration from May 1-31 2023. Teams can register for the tourney via the Safaricom Website (http://chapadimba.safaricom.co.ke/) or pick the registration forms from any Safaricom shop and local FKF branch offices.

Is there a cost for enrolment?
Registration is free. You should not pay for a registration form.
Rules of enrolment
There will be national registration across all the former eight provinces. Each regional winner (boys and girls) will proceed to the National Tournament. Participating teams must register 20 players for the tournament. The players must have been born between January 1, 2004, and December 31, 2008.
Over 5,000 games will take place across all the eight regions, which will give a platform for scouts to spot talent through partners and training opportunities. There will also be coaching clinics for budding tacticians.
To find out if your team has been successful in the vetting process, you can visit the website from June q. Group fixtures will take place from October 2018 and communication will be updated on the website with key dates and locations.
Both the boys and girls’ Tournaments will be played in five stages; Group Stage 1, Group Stage 2, Round of 16 (knockout ), Regional Finals and National Finals. Each Regional winner (boys and girls) will proceed to the national tournament.
FIFA Rules will apply - any variations will be communicated to the teams before the start of the tournament.
Can I attend the games if I am not a player?
The games are open to fans.
What do participants receive?
The best players from each county alongside all the players from the winning national teams in both boys and girls’ categories will win an education scholarship to join a TVET, subject to meeting the minimum entry criteria.
