Running battles were witnessed inside Kasarani Stadium as fans clashed with security personnel following Gor Mahia’s draw with Murang’a Seal in an FKF Premier League match.

Chaos was witnessed at the Kasarani Stadium following Gor Mahia’s 0-0 draw with Murang’a Seal in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match played on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after the final whistle, a section of fans caused mayhem inside the match venue leading to running battles with the security personnel.

Chaos initially started to erupt when an angry Gor Mahia fan stormed onto the pitch aiming to attack the referee, claiming that the standard of officiating had been poor.

The fan appeared to vent his frustration at the level of officiating which was controversial, with some odd decisions being made on the day.

Benson Omala scored a goal that was flagged offside, but it looked controversial considering the fact Seal's goalkeeper parried the ball back straight at Omala, who then found the back of the net before being flagged offside.

There was another incident where a Murang’a Seal player made foul towards the end of the game, but the referee appeared not to take notice.

As a result, fans vented their frustration and then started uprooting seats at the ground and throwing them onto the pitch, which prompted the police to release teargas and shoot rubber bullets in attempts to chase them away.

The chaos continued for an extended period of time before things eventually calmed down inside the ground.

Things only got calm once the players' entrance section was cleared, where fans went as far as to break the glasses on the doors, epitomising how bad things were.
