Chaos at Kasarani as fans clash with security, sustaining injuries, attempting to force entry; concerns rise about event preparedness.

Chaos ensued as fervent football fans clashed with stewards and police while attempting to force their way into  Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Saturday.

The uproar unfolded as supporters, caught in the throes of excitement, cheered and sprinted alongside the Gor Mahia team bus in a bid to distract security personnel stationed at the competitors' entrance.

Eyewitnesses reported that several fans sustained injuries during the skirmish, with at least three individuals limping away after being trampled in the frenzied rush.

The catalyst for the pandemonium was the sudden appearance of the Gor Mahia team bus, a sight that triggered an outpouring of enthusiasm among the fans.

The chaos escalated as the jubilant supporters sought to breach the security cordon, determined to witness the impending clash on the pitch.

Approximately 100 fans managed to outmaneuver the security personnel, successfully infiltrating the stadium grounds.

Stewards, some reportedly unfamiliar with the nuances of media credentials, attempted to block reporters  who possessed valid accreditation badges from the Football Kenya Federation.

This clash between zealous fans and security personnel raised concerns about the overall preparedness and coordination for the event.

"It is so bad that the fans tried to force their way into the stadium. But I hope the issues will be sorted out in the one hour remaining before the match," expressed one of the Gor Mahia stewards to Pulse Sports.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by organizers in managing the enthusiastic crowds that accompany high-stakes football matches.

Security measures, although robust, were put to the test as fans attempted to breach the established protocols.
