Kenya's Harambee Stars have landed a very tricky group in the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) set to take place in August this year
The Kenya National Football Team Harambee Stars will be facing Morocco, in group A of the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) set to take place in August 2025.
Kenya, who will be co-hosting the tournament alongside Tanzania and Uganda, will be will also be facing Angola, DRC and Zambia in what is set to be a very tricky group described as the “group of death” by Football Kenya Federation Vice President McDonald Mariga.

This year’s CHAN, set for August 2025, marks a historic milestone as the tournament will be hosted by three nations—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda—across five venues. Kenya will utilize the Nyayo National Stadium (18,000 capacity) and Moi International Sports Centre (55,000 capacity).
The expanded hosting comes with high expectations, especially for Harambee Stars, who are eager to make a deep run in front of home fans.
Initially scheduled for February 2024, the tournament’s postponement by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted Kenya an additional seven months to prepare. Harambee Stars recently participated in the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar as part of their preparations, gaining valuable match experience.
The 2024 CHAN features 19 teams across four groups, with Groups A, B, and C comprising five teams each, while Group D has four. The top teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals, setting the stage for intense competition.
Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DRC, Zambia
Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, CAR
Group C: Uganda, Niger, Gunea, Q2, Q1
Group D: Senegal, Congo, Sudan, Nigeria
