One of Chelsea's modern-day legends Cesc Fabregas has been appointed as the head coach of a Serie A club, marking the start of a new chapter.

Cesc Fabregas has been named manager of Serie A newcomers Como, following a successful stint as assistant manager and player.

The 37-year-old Spaniard has signed a four-year contract to lead the team, which gained promotion to the top flight after a 21-year absence.

Fabregas delighted for Como opportunity

Fabregas expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity: "I am so happy to be starting this season as head coach and I thank the ownership group for trusting me with this position."

He also shared his ambitions for the club: "I share the ambitions of the group and believe this is just the start of where this club can go."

Como have made significant signings, including former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina and ex-Villarreal left-back Alberto Moreno ahead of their return to Serie A.

Fabregas, who starred for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona, had previously served as caretaker manager for four games last year and is now taking the reins permanently.

Como will hope to avoid relegation in their first season back and Fabregas has all the experience required to steer things in the right direction.
