Harambee Stars are set to take on Cameroon in an AFCON qualifier in Yaoundé on Friday evening and here is how you can catch the action.

Harambee Stars are set for a major test against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon when the two sides clash in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Friday evening.

The clash will take place at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé where the hosts are under pressure to deliver a positive result, given they are tied on four points with Kenya, with Engin Firat’s men top due to a superior goal difference.

The match will test the capacity of both teams with whoever collects more points set to boost their chances of qualifying for next year’s tournament in Morocco.

Time and where to watch?

Kenyan fans will have a chance to watch the match live on KBC TV from the 7pm (Kenyan time) kick off as Firat’s side search for points. The match will also be broadcast across six KBC radio stations for supporters who will not be able to catch it on TV.

What have they said?

Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat is wary of the quality and physicality of the Cameroonians but is still hopeful of picking up a positive result nonetheless.

"We know how hard it will be, but I think we are at a level where only the details will decide the outcome. I don't believe it will be easy for Cameroon, even with their full-strength squad," said Firat.

"This time I'm happy that we only have a few players missing, compared to before when we had many absentees."

Captain Michael Olunga, who is returning after missing last month’s matches against Zimbabwe and Namibia with an injury, is also delighted that Harambee Stars have some of their big hitters back and feels a good result is possible away.

“Cameroon is a strong opponent; everyone knows that. But we have four points, just like them, so these two games are essentially six-point fixtures. We’re determined to start well away, and all the boys are psyched and prepared to get a positive result,” said Olunga.

Head-to-head

Cameroon and Kenya have faced off eight times dating back to February 1972 with the Indomitable Lions winning four while four other matches ended in draws.

The two teams last faced off 14 years ago when Cameroon recorded a 3-1 win in a friendly match in January 2010.

Form Guide

Since the Indomitable Lions exited the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations at the Round of 16 following a 2-0 loss to Nigeria, they have beaten Cape Verde 4-1, drawn 1-1 with Angola, secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Namibia before a goalless draw with Zimbabwe.

Kenya, meanwhile, have recorded 1-1 and goalless draws against Burundi and Ivory Coast in World Cup qualifiers before another 0-0 with Zimbabwe and followed it up with a 2-1 victory against Namibia in the AFCON qualifiers last month.
