Egypt and Morocco hosted the first two editions of the CAF Women's Champions League in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have announced that Cote d'Ivoire will host the 2023 edition of the CAF Women's Champions League.

With this, should the champions of the 2023 Nigeria Women's Football League (NWFL), succeed in the regional qualifying playoffs, they would head to the West African nation for the 8-team tournament.

Women's Champions League to serve as AFCON preparatory

According to CAF's Executive Committee, the staging of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Cote d'Ivoire will enable Africa's football governing body to test the facilities that will be used for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The West African nation is in line to host the 34th edition of the men's AFCON: the second time they would be doing so having first hosted the tournament in 1984.

NWFL Super 6 to produce Nigeria's rep

Meanwhile, Nigeria's representative in the Women's Champions League qualifiers will be decided via a Super 6 playoff, following the conclusion of the 2023 NWFL season.

The last two editions of the Women's Champions League saw Rivers Angels (2021) and Bayelsa Queens (2022) qualify from the WAFU Zone B region, with the latter reaching the semifinals of the Champions League.

Participating in the NWFL Super 6 playoffs that would produce Nigeria's 2023 champions include Rivers Angels, Confluence Queens, Edo Queens, FC Robo, Delta Queens, and the defending champions Bayelsa Queens.
