Vipers SC faced a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Jwaneng Galaxy in the CAF Champions League preliminary round during a match played away on Sunday.

Thabang Vincent Sesinyi's double strike gave Jwaneng Galaxy an advantage in the tie, securing victory at the Lobatse Sports Complex.

The upcoming encounter on Saturday, set to take place at St Mary's Stadium, Kitende, holds the promise of a different outcome. Vipers' head coach, Leonard Neiva, emphasized that the game remains open and far from being decided.

"After their win, I extend congratulations to Jwaneng Galaxy. However, it's crucial to acknowledge that the game is far from concluded," stressed the Brazilian coach following the defeat in Botswana.

"The match has not reached its conclusion. Considering that Galaxy managed to secure two goals on their home turf, we are equally capable of surpassing that tally in Uganda," he further stated.

He continued, "Thus, as we return to Uganda, we must channel our efforts towards substantial improvement. Some areas require attention. The game remains a viable opportunity for us."

Despite not finding the back of the net, Vipers exhibited unyielding determination.

The likes of Yunus Sentamu, Rodriguez Giancarlo, and Bright Anukani had noteworthy opportunities to alter the course of the game.

"Our start was gradual, allowing them to assert their presence on the field. Yet, the game was robust and demanding for both sides," Neiva acknowledged.

For Vipers to secure safe passage to the next round, a commanding victory by a three-goal margin is necessary at Kitende.

The outcome of the Vipers' match will determine the next contender, with either Comoros' Djabal FC or South Africa's Orlando Pirates awaiting.

Orlando Pirates already secured a 1-0 victory against Djabal FC in the initial leg.
