Al Ahly has won ten finals and lost five in the CAF Champions League history.
Egyptian giants Al Ahly were a no-match to Esperance as they thumped the Tunisians 3-0 in Tunisia to put one foot into the final of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.
South African export Percy Tau grabbed a brace as Mahmoud Kahraba buried the game in the 75th minute.
The two were almost unplayable on the night in Rades, with the Egyptian setting up Tau after only eight minutes of play.
Tau doubled the lead ten minutes into the second half before setting up Kahraba in the 75th minute.
The ten-time record champions will host the return leg in Cairo next week.
If they qualify, Al Ahly will be playing their 16th final as they seek to make amends after losing to Wydad Casablanca last year.
The matchday stretches into Sunday as Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns take on Wydad in Morocco.
