KCCA FC have started their journey to the CAF Confederation Cup with a 3-1 defeat to Libya’s Abu Salem in Tunisia Sunday evening.
Having got a bye in the first round of the qualifiers, the Kasasiro Boys were playing their first competitive game under new head coach Sergio Traguil.
The Libyan side were 2-0 up at halftime following goals in the 25th and 34th minutes.
The hosts started the second half on the front foot, and KCCA found themselves down 3-0.
KCCA finished the game with ten men after defender Musitafa Mujuzi was sent off.
Young striker Abubakar Mayanja pulled one back late to keep KCCA’s qualification hopes alive.
With the defeat, KCCA will have to ride on their away goal and complete the job when the two sides meet for the return leg in seven days.
