The South African is confident that CAF has set the foundation to propel a country from the continent to global glory.

Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe is confident that soon a country from the continent will win the FIFA World Cup trophy.

Drawing confidence from Morocco's impressive run in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the CAF supremo said there are high chances that the global trophy will land in Africa soon. The Atlas Lions mounted a surprising run that was ended at the penultimate stage by France.

"Morocco's qualification to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 was the first such achievement by an African nation. This reflects the significant improvement in the global competitiveness of African football and gives us confidence that our objective of ensuring that an African nation wins the FIFA World Cup is within reach," Motsepe said.

The veteran South African football administrator is hopeful that the reforms undertaken by CAF will spur a positive development of football in Africa with far-reaching effects.

"I am confident that the changes and reforms that we have introduced in CAF and African football will make football in our Member Association countries and on the African Continent globally competitive and self-supporting," he added.

"We recognise the unique power of football to unite people from different racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds and are committed to making our contribution to improving the living conditions and uniting the people of Africa and the world. The future of African football is bright."

Apart from reforms within CAF, Motsepe revealed that they have invested USD550 000 to introduce VAR and various training courses for VAR operators in each CAF zonal union. According to the CAF president, the federation is also in the process of establishing VAR training centres in those zones.
