New SC Villa assistant head coach Morely Byekwaso has opened up on why he joined the record league champions in an assistant coach capacity to new Serbian head coach Dusan Stojanovic.

The Serbian joins the record Uganda Premier League champions, who have not won a league title since 2004, and are on a seven-year run without any piece of silverware.
"First of all, learning doesn't end; at times, we fail because we miss out on learning a lot; if I got an opportunity of working with a foreign coach, that is best for me," Byekwaso told Pulse Sports at the media briefing.
"I thought to myself, if I missed this opportunity, I would be missing out on a lot; in life, if you don't give yourself a chance to learn, then you won't achieve much, so I am happy to be an assistant."
"I am not selfish because I have been a manager before, but I want to learn because, shortly, I will also be able to coach clubs outside Uganda," Byekwaso added.
The soft-spoken tactician signed a three-year contract and will double as the junior team head coach.

FOOTBALL Dusan Stojanovic takes over reins at SC Villa
Accompanied by his assistant Morley Byekwaso, Stojanovic was officially introduced at SC Villa's head offices in the Industrial Area of Kampala.
S.C. Villa finished third in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League last season in a campaign that saw them miss out on the championship on the final day after they lost 1-0 to URA FC.

Morley Byekwaso was a permanent fixture at KCCA FC in the late 90s, but a dry spell due to injuries led to fans calling for his departure at Lugogo.
The situation was exacerbated when he missed a penalty against S.C. Villa in 2000 in a league game.
The former Uganda Cranes forward switched allegiance and joined the Joogos in 2002, winning three league titles, a domestic cup and a CECAFA Kagame Cup title during his two-year stint, which ended in 2004.
Morley Byekwaso and the new technical team will be tasked to guide the Jogoos to their first league title since 2004 when the new campaign gets underway later in September.
