Mbale Heroes is leading Bukedea Central 5-0 after the first leg of the FUFA Big League promotion playoffs.

Bukedea Central head coach Peter Ong’odia resigned after a section of the club hierarchy claimed that he manipulated their FUFA Big League playoffs first leg fixture against Mbale Heroes.

The team was thrashed 5-0 by the Mbale side at their Bukedea backyard, burying their hopes of qualifying for the second division.

The experienced Mbale Heroes side grabbed their goals through former topflight players James Otim, Mark Bamukyaye, Patrick Gonahasa, Marco Barssey and Shaka SSozi.

“It's unfortunate that we lost to Mbale Heroes (0-5) in the last game and all the blame comes back to me as Head Coach,” Ong’odia took full responsibility, in a statement quoted by Wabomba Sports, before the revelation.

“To my disappointment, and so unfortunate, that those we celebrated together the success all through the good times but when it came to time for failure, it's said I sold the game,” he added.

The coach has confirmed to Pulse Sports that he has thrown in the towel after “some accusations,” which he didn’t dig into further due to the environment that he was in at the time of the call.

Bukedea Central make the 15-minute trip to Mbale for the return leg this weekend.
