Cameroon striker Bryan Mbeumo has shown great form for his club Brentford in what would be a cause for worry for Harambee Stars ahead of their AFCON qualifiers this month.

Harambee Stars players will have to be wary of Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo when the two sides clash in a double header this month.

Mbeumo has scored six goals for Premier League side Brentford this season, more than Manchester United have managed in six games in the 2024-25 campaign.

Worryingly for Kenya, Mbeumo has scored in each of the last three games Premier League games for Brentford and was on the scoresheet when the Bees thrashed Wolves 5-3 on Saturday.

That will give Cameroon coach Marc Brys great confidence ahead of the two matches against Kenya, one in October 11 at home and the other one four days later, when Harambee Stars host them in Kampala, Uganda.

Mbeumo has played in each of Cameroon’s last four games, two in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and as many in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, featuring in 90 minutes in all of them.

His last goal for the Indomitable Lions came in their 1-1 draw with Angola in the World Cup qualifier in June but he is showing signs of getting on the scoresheet soon.

Both Kenya and Cameroon are tied on four points in their qualification group after each won one and drew the other with Harambee Stars top due to a superior goal difference.

Kenya started with a 0-0 draw at home to Zimbabwe before beating Namibia 2-1 while Cameroon beat Namibia 1-0 and followed it up with a goalless draw against Zimbabwe.

Harambee Stars are, however, also boosted by the returning captain Michael Olunga who has been in great form for his club Al Duhail.
