Chelsea have reportedly had an offer of £55million for Moises Caicedo turned turned down by Brighton
Despite Chelsea making a written bid worth £55 million, Brighton value Moises Caicedo significantly higher and do not intend to sell him.
Chelsea keen on Caicedo
Chelsea have been interested in Caicedo for weeks and finally made their move. However, their £55million proposal was far below what Brighton would even consider, let alone accept, and they have no interest in letting him go anywhere in this window.
According to The Athletic Chelsea are keen to recruit Caicedo, who is among a number of options they are studying to bolster their midfield in January or the summer.
The Ecuador international joined Brighton from Independiente del Valle in February 2021 and is under contract on the south coach until 2025. He has made 25 appearances for Brighton since his move.
Big picture for Chelsea
Caicedo would greatly improve Chelsea's current midfield options if he were to arrive at Stamford Bridge. He is excellent and aggressive on the ball and can orchestrate attacks from deep, something the Blues lack.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will return to the negotiating table at this moment but one thing is clear, they need to return with a significantly higher offer to even tempt Brighton to sell.
