Chelsea lose again, but Frank Lampard blames chemistry.

Chelsea interim boss Frank Lampard has berated his side's performance against Brighton, saying they deserved to lose by a bigger margin.

Brighton beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, keeping their dreams of European football alive, and sinking the Blues further into the second half of the table.

Chelsea last won a game in mid-March and have since gone on a run of six games without winning, including the loss to Brighton.

The Blues went ahead first in the 13th minute of the game on a Conor Gallagher strike, albeit against the run of play.

The dominant Brighton finally got an equaliser in the 42nd minute thanks to a Danny Welbeck header, before young Julio Enciso sealed the victory for the Seagulls.

What Lampard said

Lampard was critical of his team's performance against Roberto de Zerbi's side, believing the team coached by the Italian manager could have run away winners with a bigger margin.

The Chelsea legend, however, suggested his side's loss was a result of playing against a team whose manager has had time to impact his ideas, as opposed to his situation being new to the job.

"[It's] difficult because the scoreline doesn't flatter them, they could have scored more goals. [Brighton] are a very good team first and foremost, they have been working together for a long time and now with the coach and the ideas and the energy and the connection within the team is so good and that's why they are where they are and we're not that,”he said, per the BBC.

Chelsea will return to Champions League action in the middle of the week when they host Real Madrid in London, as they try to overturn a 2-0
