Musa was named man-of-the match during the side's 2-0 win over Tanzania at the ongoing Mapinduzi Cup in Pemba Islands.

Harambee Stars midfielder Brian Musa believes that with improved on-pitch chemistry, Kenya could become an unstoppable force at the ongoing Mapinduzi Cup in Pemba Island, Zanzibar. The tournament serves as critical preparation for the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Musa, named Man of the Match in Kenya's 2-0 triumph over Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Stars, played a pivotal role in both goals scored by Ryan Ogam and Boniface Muchiri.

The former Posta Rangers captain's sharp vision and precise passing were instrumental in unlocking the opposition’s defense. His well-placed pass to Daniel Sakari set up the floated cross that Muchiri headed home for the opening goal.

Later, Musa delivered a defense-splitting pass that resulted in a mix-up between Tanzania's goalkeeper Metacha Mnata and defender Pascal Msindo, allowing Ryan Ogam to seal the win.

Reflecting on the match, Musa highlighted the team's progress since their opening draw against Burkina Faso.

“Everyone gave a good fight, and we are grateful,” Musa said after the match. “Against Burkina Faso, concentration lapses cost us. We had not trained together back in Kenya for a long time, so you can understand why we were disjointed. But we rectified it in training, and now we have taken three massive points.”

The midfielder also expressed gratitude for his teammates' support, saying, “I am grateful because without my teammates, I would not have won Man of the Match. I thank them for helping me, and I am super grateful.”

The victory keeps Kenya on track in their Mapinduzi Cup campaign and builds crucial momentum for the CHAN tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from February 1-28.

Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi praised the players for adapting to his system and emphasized the importance of using the Mapinduzi Cup to strengthen the team.

“We are still in the very early stages of testing the players, and we want to build a team that is very competitive,” Kimanzi told Telecomasia.net in a separate interview. “We are seeing players showing some very good character, and these games in the Mapinduzi Cup are helping in building that better.

“We want to see better mental character, and we have an intention of making the team better in every game.”

Kenya will face Zanzibar on January 11 in their third tournament fixture, aiming to secure a spot in the January 13 final, likely against Burkina Faso.
