Andreas Pereira and Luis Henrique were also on the scoresheet.

Raphinha scored twice from the spot as Brazil beat Peru 4-0 South American World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

A penalty in each half from the Barcelona winger eased the former World Cup champions to glory and follows 2-1 comeback win in Chile.

The Selecao were dominant from the start and Andreas Pereira, a late call up to the squad after Vinicius Jr withdrew from the squad, justified his selection with a 72st minute goal while Luis Henrique completed the rout, finding the back of the net three minutes later.

The win lifted Brazil to fourth position on the standings on 16 points after 10 matches. Uruguay is third because of a superior goal difference. "I think we needed this, it was really important winning both games to get back on track," Raphinha told Brazilian television Globo.

"They were two games that we managed to control. It's a long way from perfect, but I believe we're on the right track".

Despite hitting the crossbar in the 24th minute, Raphinha gave Brazil a deserved lead in the 38th after Peru defender Carlos Zambrano was penalised for handball. He extended the Selecao's lead nine minutes after the restart.

Elsewhere, Leonel Messi scored a hat trick as reigning World Cup champion Argentina slayed Bolivia in the 6-0 demolition of the minnows. Victory saw the Copa America champions maintain their lead at the top of the standings with 22 points while second-placed Colombia thrashed Chile 4-0.
