Ahead of the Olympics, Nigeria has suffered a significant blow just 24 hours after the head coach of the senior women's national team announced the Olympic roster.
According to Nigeria Football the Rosengard midfielder Halimatu Ayinde will miss the Paris 2024 Olympics due to injury, ending her long-term pursuit of achieving an Olympic dream.

The three-time WAFCON winner sustained a knee injury shortly before joining the national team camp as her club confirmed that she would not be able to participate in the Olympics.
Ayinde, who hails from Kaduna, had only recently returned from injury setbacks following the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and now faces another spell on the sidelines.

Coach Randy Waldrum has named his squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics and will camp them in Spain before heading to France.
In light of Ayinde's injury, Waldrum is expected to call up one of the alternate players in the squad.
The possible replacements include Jumoke Alani from Nasarawa Amazons, Ifeoma Onumonu from Utah Royals, USA, Gift Monday from Coasta Adeje Tenerife Egatesa, Spain, and Morufa Ademola from Rivers Angels.
