The 27-year-old suffered a fibula fracture in a league match against AFC Leopards.

Bidco United have confirmed midfielder Benson Iregi will be out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his right leg.

Iregi came off with an injury in the 1-1 draw against AFC Leopards on Wednesday, April 26, it has now been confirmed that was his final bit of action this campaign.

"Benson had successful surgery at a hospital in Thika last Thursday and has been ruled out for the remainder of this season," said Bidco coach Anthony Akhulia.

"It's tough for us to lose such a key player. I prefer not to complain. I have enough players to compete better and try to work with them to find a way to get results."

Iregi in particular, has been hugely important thanks to his technical ability and passing range, allowing Akhulia's side to dominate possession more frequently and penetrate teams with greater ease.

His absence was felt on Wednesday, with Bidco falling 2-0 to Kenya Police FC as the team struggled to find midfield consistency throughout the match.

Batts Awita has regularly played in the same position as Iregi and will continue doing so for the remainder of the season, having started in the game against Police.

However, the fact that Bidco has only the premier league to concentrate on softens the blow.

They have six games left in the campaign and may have to win most to finish among the nine top positions on the league standings.

The Thika-based side is 13th on the log with 27 points garnered from 28 matches played this season.
