Mwaura did not feature for Kenya Police alot since their promotion back to the top flight in 2021 due to injury, which led him to opt to sign for Bidco in efforts to kickstart his career with the Thika-based side.

Bidco United FC head coach Anthony Akhulia has revealed why new signing Kevin Mwaura is not a prominent regular starter in his side after signing the talented prodigy from Kenya Police on a free transfer.

Mwaura, who did not feature for Kenya Police alot since their promotion back to the top flight in 2021, signed for Bidco in efforts to kickstart his career with the Thika-based side.

The talented yougster suffered unfortunate anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2021 in only his third top-flight match for Kenya Police after playing a key part in helping them get promoted in 2021.

By the time he was fully fit again in April 2022, the side had beefed up the squad with plenty of established talent, which would have made it difficult for him to nail down a starting place.

Mwaura has featured as a substitute this season, and is yet to start a full match for the side, but Akhulia insists he will be a key figure for his charges in the near future.

“He has been coming in. Even in the game against Talanta, he came in and he also got a chance,” Akhulia said.

The media-friendly head coach has revealed Mwaura has work to do to improve the defensive aspect of his game in order to become a more complete player.

“He is someone that we will use very much. He is also very creative. The problem is that we cannot really use him in terms of defending.”

Akhulia believes that Mwaura could be useful in game states where the opponent has tired out, as it could allow him to play gap-exploiting passes to help create more chances and goals for the side.

“He is a good player in terms of attacking wise. It is good to sub him on when the opponents are worn out or tired but at kick off, he struggles to win balls for the team.”

Bidco United will face Bandari in their sixth league game of the season.
