Akhulia was pleased to get back to winning ways after his side had conceded “childish goals” in their previous game against Kenya Police nine days ago.

Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has praised his charges for their defensive discipline as they soared to a 2-0 win over Bandari.

The Thika-based side needed goals from former AFC Leopards midfielder Sharrif Musa and Thomas Wainaina to get all three points and rise up to fourth place in the league standings.

Speaking after the match, Akhulia was pleased to get back to winning ways after his side conceded “childish goals” in their previous game against Kenya Police FC nine days ago.

“If you look at our last match, we conceded childish goals, “ Akhulia said. “ That means we needed to go back to the drawing board and see where we went wrong. We conceded from individual mistakes,” he added.

Akhulia was pleased that his players executed his instructions to the letter, which left him very satisfied at the end.

“But if you look at how the team played against Bandari, we were a better team in terms of organisation.

“We knew Bandari would come into the game and play with a high tempo. We decided to sit back and hit them on the break or through set-piece situations.

“If you look, all the balls that went into our attacking third were very dangerous balls and then we scored two goals in the first half and Bandari would have come flying in the second half, we decided to take a defensive approach and it did work for us.”

The result for Bidco now means they have collected nine points and are seven behind league leaders Posta Rangers after six league matches played.

In six matches, they have won two, drawn three and lost one. Their wins came against Bandari and FC Talanta.

Their draws have come against Posta Rangers, City Stars, and Nzoia Sugar. Akhulia expressed satisfaction and said he would be giving his players a week off as a reward for a stellar performance against the Dockers.

“I will be giving them seven days off for doing well against Bandari.”
