Tusker FC striker Erick Kapaito has now joined the Golden Boot conversation following a run of five goals in four games after looking lost for most of this season

Tusker FC striker Erick Kapaito has joined the chase for the FKF Premier League Golden Boot after his brilliant hat-trick against KCB took his tally to five.

Kapaito was the Man of the Match as he scored thrice, one of them a goal-of-the-season contender, as the Brewers shredded KCB to pieces, thrashing them 5-0 at the Kenya Police Sacco grounds on Sunday.

Kapaito started the move that led to the first goal, firing home an unstoppable thunderbolt after some neat passes before he squared to Levin Odhiambo to make it 2-0 and then score the third in some style.

The striker got himself in the box and met a lofted ball in before scoring with an overhead kick to make it 3-0 shortly after the break.

Kapaito would seal his hat-trick from the penalty spot before John Njuguna wrapped up the huge win in the dying minutes of the game.

With his three goals, Kapaito has taken his tally to five, which is three behind the league’s top scorer Benson Omala of Gor Mahia.

What’s more, Kapaito has found his scoring boots at the same time Tusker started turning a corner, his five goals coming from the Brewers’ last four games which they have all won.

Kapaito, who joined Tusker FC as a free agent after leaving Ethiopian side Arba Minch, had to wait until Matchweek 14 to open his account for the club when he scored twice in their 3-2 win over Bidco United.

He was not on target when Tusker beat Nzoia Sugar 2-0 and Kenya Police 1-0 but has started the year in fine fashion.

Kapaito will be now targeting KCB’s Francis Kahiro, Moses Shummah of Kakamega Homeboyz, and Boniface Muchiri of Ulinzi Stars, who have six goals each, before he goes for Omala.

With his upturn in form, coupled with Omala’s recent drought, few will bet against him going toe-to-toe with the K’Ogalo forward.
