Some of the players who have been part of the squad in previous matches are missing as Odemba reshapes Starlets.

Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has finally unveiled her squad for the upcoming FIFA international break naming a blend of seasoned players and fresh talent to face Morocco in two highly anticipated friendly matches.

The squad, which departs for Morocco today, November 26, 2024, excludes some prominent names, including Marjolen Wafula Nekesa of Slavia Prague Women, Cynthia Shilwatso and Jentrix Shikangwa.

However, Odemba has made it clear that her focus is on developing a team that combines experience with emerging potential.

Among the new faces, Junior Starlets captain Elizabeth Ochaka and young goalkeeper Christine Adhiambo have earned their first senior call-ups.

Ochaka, a standout performer during the FIFA Women’s U17 World Cup, brings defensive strength, while Adhiambo transitions from the U20 team, adding depth to the goalkeeping department.

The selection reflects Odemba’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of football stars.

Trinity Starlets’ Jackline Chesang’ and Vihiga Queens’ Diana Cherono have also made the cut after showcasing exceptional form in the ongoing 2024/25 FKF Women’s Premier League season.

The absence of Wafula, Shilwatso, and Shikangwa has raised eyebrows, given their pedigree and contributions in the past.

The Harambee Starlets will face Morocco, a team that impressed the world at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, in back-to-back matches at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.

The first match is slated for Friday, November 29, 2024, at 8:00 PM EAT, followed by the second on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 1:45 PM EAT.

Harambee Starlets are coming off a spirited showing at the Pink Ladies Tournament in Turkey, where they gained crucial experience.

The upcoming friendlies will further test their mettle against one of Africa’s top teams, providing a benchmark for their progress under Odemba’s leadership.
