Bayern Munich are said to have reached full agreement for a season-long contract extension with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
According to reports, Bayern Munich and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting have come to terms on a one-season contract extension.
The 33-year-old's contract was meant to expire at the end of the season, but Bayern are now said to have agreed to extend it for one more year, rewarding his stellar form that has cushioned the effect of Robert Lewandowski's exit.
Choupo-Moting set to renew
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern Munich have reached a full agreement with Choupo-Moting for a season-long contract extension.
The report revealed that Bayern had prioritised his extension since November, and an agreement has been reached, awaiting official confirmation.
Choupo-Moting, whose current salary is £60,000 according to Salary Sport, is also set for a pay rise in line with his new advanced profile and importance at the club.
Choupo-Moting's impressive season.
The forecast was doom and gloom when Robert Lewandowski switched from Bayern Munich to Barcelona, with new signing Sadio Mane thought to be incapable of replacing the Pole's goals.
Sadio Mane has been injured for a significant part of his Bayern tenure so far, making him unavailable to provide even half of the goals Lewandowski guaranteed, but Choupo-Moting has more than softened the blow.
The Cameroon international has scored an impressive 15 goals in only 17 starts this season, contributing to Bayern's position as leaders in the Bundesliga and their Champions League charge, in which they topped a group with Barcelona and Inter Milan and are one foot in the quarter-final with a first-leg advantage over Paris Saint-Germain.
