Glory Edet and Etim Edidiong going close to the breakthrough with good chances for the Bayelsa.

But Simba did hit back with opportunities of their own after calming the early storms from the Nigerians.

But there was nothing to separate both sides at the break as the game remained goalless at halftime.

The match was a keenly contested encounter between the Queens.

The second half was similar to the opening 46 minutes with both sides looking for a decisive breakthrough.

It finally arrived 20 minutes from time when Sunday finished a cross from Mercy Itimi to put Bayelsa ahead.

Simba wouldn't go down without a fight and came closer to an equaliser when a ferocious attempt by Clement was saved by Bayelsa's Bawou Gabrielle later on.

The Nigerians should have wrapped things up late on but substitute Chinyere Igbomalu failed to write her name in glory as she missed a sitter.

It was the last real action from the game as Bayelsa held on for the win to make history, becoming the first Nigerian side to pick up a medal in the CAFWCL.
