Matchday three of the UEFA Champions League promises two thrilling encounters as Barcelona host Bayern Munich and Manchester City welcome Sparta Prague.

Barcelona, riding high at the top of La Liga, face a daunting challenge against Bayern Munich, a team they've historically struggled against.

In their previous 15 meetings, Barcelona have managed just two wins, with Bayern dominating the rivalry (D2, L11). Adding to their woes, Barcelona are winless in their last seven matches against German teams, a streak they’ll be keen to end.

Despite these challenges, the Catalans boast a formidable record in this competition, having scored in their last eight Champions League games.

However, Bayern arrive in confident form, fresh off a dominant display against Stuttgart, with Harry Kane in sensational scoring form.

The Bavarians have maintained a six-match winning streak against Barcelona, emphasizing their recent superiority in this fixture.

Meanwhile, Manchester City, currently midtable in the Premier League, are looking to extend their impressive unbeaten run, having not lost at home in European competition for 32 matches.

Pep Guardiola's side aims to set a European record with 26 unbeaten games if they avoid defeat against Sparta Prague.

City’s recent form has been a mix of highs and lows in the Champions League, with their last victory being a comprehensive win against ŠK Slovan Bratislava.

Sparta Prague, while underdogs, are in decent shape, with no defeats in their last eight UCL matches, including qualifiers.

However, their poor record in England, where they've lost six of their last seven encounters, poses a significant hurdle.

.Other matches include Atalanta taking on Celtic who are both still within the qualification bracket but both teams will be hunting points from each other to reman afloat for the play-off stages.

Diego Simeone will lead his mean in battle against French side Lille. Atletico Madrid will aim to bounce back with a win after a 4-0 loss against Benfica.

Inter Milan will be hosted by Young Boys. Inter Milan are highly favoured to win this match following Lautaro Martinez's unwavering form. He has scored four goals in his last four club matches.
