After beating Real Madrid by a similar scoreline earlier this year to win the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona asserted their superiority over their El Clasico rivals with another stunning performance.

How it happened

The visitors made an explosive start, with Salma Paralluelo firing them ahead inside two minutes after capitalising on a defensive lapse. Ewa Pajor then doubled the lead in the 13th minute, finishing clinically to put Barcelona in full control early on.

Real Madrid struggled to respond as Barcelona’s relentless attack kept them on the back foot. Pajor struck again in the 29th minute, securing her brace and silencing the home crowd.

Just before halftime, Caroline Graham Hansen set up Paralluelo for her second of the night, making it 4-0 and all but sealing the result before the break.

Los Blancos showed some fight in the second half but could not contain Barcelona’s firepower. In the 78th minute, Pajor completed her hat-trick with a cool finish, assisted by Fredolina Rolfö, capping off a near-perfect night for the reigning champions.

With a five-goal advantage heading into the second leg on March 12, Barcelona are in complete control, leaving Real Madrid with a near-impossible mountain to climb to reach the final.
