An Austin Odhiambo goal downed Police on Saturday afternoon.

Kenya Police FC head coach Francis Baraza has blamed poor set-piece defending as the reason behind the loss to league leaders Gor Mahia in a league match played at the Kasarani stadium on Saturday.

Speaking after his side’s 1-0 loss to K’Ogalo, Baraza revealed that, although they executed the strategy he asked them to use in the match, their poor set-piece defense ultimately cost them the match.

“We came upwith a plan that worked well in the first half,” he said. “In the second-half, I spoke to my players, and we spoke a lot about set-piece defending,” he added.

“Gor Mahia have won their last four or five matches through set-pieces, and we paid the price. We will work on that in training in order to try and do better in the oncoming matches.”

The tactician believes it is a problem that needs specialized attention which will only happen during the close season.

"We just need to work more on the problem. I got into the team late, so I did not have enough time to work on the smaller details and fully implement my ideas.

“I have experienced players, but ironically, they have some issues with executing set-pieces when attacking. It is something that hopefully I will correct in the pre-season next year.”

The Law Enforcers are currently 5th on 43 points, 13 points adrift of Gor Mahia.
