Former Genk winger Ayub Timbe has left Sabail FK after a brief stint, thanking team and fans in heartfelt social media post.

Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe has ended his tenure with Azerbaijan top-flight side Sabail FK departing the club after just six months.

Timbe who joined Sabail FK in January brought his dynamic play to the team after an impressive stint with Nanjing City in China.

The forward confirmed his departure through a heartfelt message on his social media pages after the end of his short contract.

"To all my family in Azerbaijan, Thank you Sabail. To my teammates, coaching staff and all the fans that showed up every game. Thank you for your endless support. Until we meet again, I wish you all luck with the new season!!" he wrote.

A graduate of the JMJ Academy, Timbe has had a globe-trotting career, playing for various clubs including Genk in Belgium, Lierse, Beijing Renhe in China, Reading in England, Vissel Kobe in Japan, and Buriram United in Thailand.

Over his career he has netted four goals in 28 matches a testament to his skill and consistency on the field.

Timbe's journey with Sabail FK began in January 2024. His tenure with the Azerbaijani side came after showcasing his talents with Nanjing City in China since March 2023.

His brief stay in Azerbaijan was marked by his characteristic flair and dedication, contributing significantly to the team's efforts.

Masika got his first call-up to the national team in 2012 and was set to play in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round match against Togo on 29 February 2012.

However, he could not return to Kenya due to club commitments with Genk on that day.

Despite this early setback, Timbe made his international debut for Kenya against South Africa on 16 October 2012, coming on as a substitute for Thika United forward Francis Kahata in the 61st minute in a match that Kenya lost the match 2–1.

He was called up again for a friendly against Libya on 6 February 2013 but refused to play, citing unpaid dues from his last appearance for the team against Tanzania.

Despite these challenges, he made his return on 18 May 2014, starting and playing the full 90 minutes in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against Comoros.

Timbe scored his first goal for the national team 12 days later in the second leg, securing a 2–1 aggregate win for the Harambee Stars with a free kick.

Timbe's international career has seen its ups and downs, but his resilience and talent have made him a mainstay in the current Harambee Stars setup. Under the guidance of current coach Engin Firat, Timbe has been a reliable and dependable player, consistently delivering solid performances.

His departure from Sabail FK opens a new chapter in his career. While his next move remains uncertain, his track record suggests that he will continue to be a significant asset to any team he joins.

Timbe's versatility and experience make him a valuable player and his fans will be eagerly awaiting news of his next destination.
