Chidozie Awaziem is set for a move to France with Nantes to join Moses Simon
Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem will join his compatriot Moses Simon at Nantes after agreeing on a permanent transfer from Boavista, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
Awaziem set to join Nantes
The 26-year-old defender is reportedly on his way to completing a €1.5 million transfer to the 2022/23 Coupe de France finalists from the Portuguese side after spending last season on loan at Croatian side Hajduk Split.
Awaziem joined Boavista permanently from Porto in 2021 but has spent both seasons at the club on loan to other teams, first in Turkey with Alanyaspor and then in Croatia with Hajduk Split.
He helped Hajduk Split to the Croatian Cup title in his only season at the club, as they also finished as runners-up in the league season.
Super Eagles defender set to move to France
His performances in Croatia have now earned him a move to France with Nantes, who are looking to bulk up their squad ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Les Canaries have lost a number of players from the 2022/23 season when they narrowly escaped relegation, including centre-back Andrei Girotto, who joined Al-Taawoun in Saudi Arabia this summer.
The Nigerian centre-back will be paired with Cameroonian defender Jean-Charles Castelletto at the heart of Nantes’ defence and will be hoping to form a formidable partnership to help Les Canaries improve on their last season form.
