Odhiambo has revealed his stance over his future at Gor Mahia as the side prepares to travel to Nigeria for Coal City International Cup.

Gor Mahia midfielder Austin Odhiambo has opted to remain cagey over his future at the club amidst reports he is set to launch his professional career abroad.

Odhiambo was named the FKFPL most valuable player last Friday after a dominating season in which he scored 12 goals and registered 13 assists from the middle of the park.

He also broke into the national team set up, making his official debut against Burundi during their 1-1 draw in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, as well as a further three for Rising Stars at the COSAFA Cup in South Africa last month.

Speaking to Pulse Sports on Friday after being feted, Odhiambo refused to fully confirm whether his future is indeed for the Green Army as they prepare for their 2024/2025 CAF Champions League campaign.

Odhiambo has reportedly attracted the interest of Belgian outfit AA Gent, and has also received offers from Zambia and Rwanda.

“I cannot say anything because nothing has officially been made. As we speak I am still a Gor Mahia player,” he asserted.

Gor Mahia are set to take part in the Coal City International Tournament in Enugu, Nigeria next week, where they will be facing Corithians, Remo Stars and Coton FC. Asked whether he will indeed be taking part in the tournament, Odhiambo remained uncertain about his future.

“I am still not sure if I will be involved in that tournament,” he added.

Having missed a previous opportunity to join Swedish side Elfsborg in 2021, Odhiambo is now closer than ever to realizing his European dream.

The interest from KAA Gent could be the breakthrough he has longed for, and the move would undoubtedly mark a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.

Odhiambo did not travel with Gor Mahia to the 2024 CECAFA Kagame Cup in Tanzania, and the former AFC Leopards man revealed why he was not involved.

"I do not want to comment on why I didn’t travel to Tanzania for the Kagame Cup. The management is better placed to divulge more," he said in a separate interview with SportsBoom.
