He enjoyed playing with Kortrijk, where he was from 1990 to 1994, before he accepted a move to Spanish side, Ourense.

However, after just one year where he failed to establish himself in the Ourense tea, Eguaveon opted to return to Kortrijk, where he spent one year before moving to Sacramento Scorpions in the USA.

He was in the USA for less than a year before he moved to Russian club Torpedo Moscow, where he also stayed for a year.

At this point, the thought of transitioning into coaching was already on his mind, pushing him to join Maltese side Sliema Wanderers, as a player-coach, though the dual role lasted for only few months.

However, he remained with Sliema Wanderers from 1999 to 2001, before he came back to Nigeria to take up a full-time coaching job with Bendal Insurance.
