The Nigerian-Spanish striker is highly valued by Atletico Madrid, making a move to Chelsea unlikely

Chelsea interest in 20-year-old Nigeria-eligible striker Samuel Omorodion is being strongly rebuffed by LaLiga side Atletico Madrid, who are insisting on keeping the youngster in their side beyond this summer.

Atletico reject bids for Omorodion

Omorodion, who had an impressive loan spell at Alaves last season, has caught the eye of several top clubs including Chelsea, who are keen to bolster their attacking options and have made multiple bids to secure the young forward's services.

Atletico Madrid, however, values Omorodion highly and have been firm in their stance. Reports initially suggested that Atleti turned down a €40 million offer from Chelsea. However, sources from Relevo reveal that the Premier League club made three separate bids, with the highest being nearly €50 million. All of these bids were rebuffed by Atletico, who have set a high bar for any potential transfer.

Atletico Madrid's valuation of Omorodion is clear – they will only consider offers close to his €80 million release clause.Chelsea, for their part, are not interested in meeting this valuation, making a transfer this summer unlikely.

Omorodion a top prospect for Atletico Madrid

With Atletico Madrid's firm stance, Omorodion's immediate future appears to be set in Spain with the Rojiblancos. Diego Simeone, the head coach, plans to assess Omorodion during the pre-season, and te departure of Memphis Depay, coupled with potential exits for Alvaro Morata and Angel Correa, opens up opportunities for Omorodion to establish himself in the first team.

The upcoming pre-season will be crucial for Omorodion as he looks to prove his worth to Simeone and secure a regular spot in Atletico's attacking lineup. Given his performances at Alaves, where he showcased his goal-scoring ability with eight league goals, the Nigerian could be set to explode in a better set up alongside some of the best players in the country.
