Nigeria's Ademola Lookman proved again that he is Atalanta's main man with a stunning late winner against Milan.

Super Eagles main man Ademola Lookman once again proved to be the difference maker for Atalanta after scoring a dramatic late winner in their 2-1 victory over AC Milan on Friday night.

The Nigerian super forward's goal not only sealed the win and three points but also extended Atalanta's unbeaten run to 13 matches across all competitions, including nine consecutive victories.

The match began with Charles De Ketelaere putting Atalanta ahead in the 12th minute with a powerful header against his former club, where he failed to manage a single goal in 40 appearances.

However, the visitors quickly responded, drawing level ten minutes later through Álvaro Morata, who combined effectively with Portuguese winger Rafael Leao to find the net.

Throughout the first half and into the second, Lookman had a relatively quiet performance but remained a constant threat for the home side in Bergamo.

He came close to scoring on two occasions, testing the Milan goalkeeper but failed to convert from tight angles.

Morata and Leao combined for the equaliser.

Just when it seemed that both teams will settle for a share of the spoils, Lookman, 27, made his mark.

With three minutes left on the clock, he capitalised on a lack of concentration from the Milan defence after a corner kick to sneak in a stunning header into the back of the net, sealing a crucial three points for Atalanta.

This victory moved Atalanta to the top of the Serie A standings, leapfrogging former leaders Napoli, who sit two points behind but have a game in hand.

Lookman's impressive form this season and latest goal took his tally in the Serie A to eight goals and four assists in just 12 matches.

Atalanta's win was particularly important as they were without their suspended manager Gian Piero Gasperini, but still delivered in his absence from the dugout.

With this victory, they continue to establish themselves as serious contenders in the league this season.
