Former Black Stars forward and captain Asamoah Gyan has tipped the youngsters who participated in the CAF African Schools tournament in South Africa.

Gyan, one of the African football legends at the tournament to inspire the young players, knows about the importance of education and dedication to the game to succeed.

“It’s an amazing platform for the young players to get exposure. It is something we didn’t have when we started,” Gyan said.

“My message to this generation is that if you want to play football or be a referee, dedicate yourself to the craft and also, education is key.”

The former BBC African footballer stressed that if it weren’t for an education, he wouldn’t express himself today the way he does today.

“Education is key; sometimes I count myself lucky because, without the education, I wouldn’t be here expressing myself, so please take it seriously,” Gyan added.

Former Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf and former Bafana Bafana and Leeds United captain Lucas Radebe are the other African legends who were present to advise the youngsters.

CS BenSekou Sylla from Guinea and Fountain Gate School of Tanzania have crowned the champions of the boys’ and girls’ competitions, respectively, at the inaugural 2022/23 CAF African Schools Football Championship final played in Durban, South Africa.
