Chelsea beat Dortmund 2-0 on the night, to advance into the quarter-final of the Champion's League on a 2-1 aggregate scoreline, thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz.
- Thank you for joining me today as we experienced the UEFA Champions League second-leg match between Chelsea and Dortmund. Live coverages from UCL encounters tomorrow and next week.
- Know much about the penalty? "Not a massive amount to be honest. I knew they had encroached. It was him or Reece. Sometimes they have to feel it on the pitch. Obviously we have confidence in Kai. I wasn't watching it but delighted when I heard the roar.
- "Taking penalties is not for me, so I am in awe of anybody [who does].
- Chelsea boss Graham Potter, asked how he is feeling by BT Sport per the BBC: "I'm not sure! There is a lot of emotion in the end. It was tense in the end but the boys played fantastically. I am delighted for them to get the win and great for everyone here."
- On the penalty being awarded: "I'm responsible for the performance of our team. I don't want to talk about the referee. I thought it was a tight call and a tight decision.
- "I think the first 10 minutes you can feel the power not just from Chelsea but from the stadium.
- "After that, we came back into the game but they managed to score and we didn't.
- "We had a clear chance through Bellingham and only had a couple of counter-attacks to defend.
- "We didn't create much later, and that's the problem."
- Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic on BT Sport: "Fair play to Chelsea and congratulations.
- "Both games were very close for both teams but, at the end of the day, they deserved it."
- Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, speaking to BT Sport per the BBC: "I've not seen the incident back, from where I was it looked pretty close, I'm not sure what more you can do with the hands."
- After watching the replay: "It is a yard or two away. I am not too sure. I don't want to get in trouble. That in itself was disappointing but the fact they had a retake is a joke.
- "For every penalty with such a slow run-up, there is going to be encroachment by people running into the box by a yard or so, but that's the game. They've made the decision and we've had to live with it."
Chelsea have progressed into the quarter-final of the Champions League with a 2-1 aggregate victory over Dortmund.
- FULLTIME
- Dortmund with a late flurry of their own, but it amounted to nothing before Chelsea advanced on the pitch once more.
- Chelsea are not resting on their oars. They look more likely to grab a third than Dortmund an equaliser.
- Enzo Fernandes comes off for Dennis Zakaria as Graham Potter looks to turn this well-earned score line into a result.
- Sterling and Kovacic come off for Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic. Kepa takes the armband.
- Graham Potter has fresh instructions for Kai Havertz, what is he cooking?
- 76' Enzo Fernandes see a yellow card for a rash tackle
- Sterling was marginally offside; if only he timed his run better. He runs off the shoulder of the last defender and set Gallagher up for a goal, but the linesman had other ideas
- 72' Ooof Sule went close to registering Dortmund on the scoreboard.
- I genuinely believe the only reason Conor Gallagher still gets game time is that he looks like Mudryk. He comes on for Joao Felix.
- 65' Kepa sees yellow for time wasting.
- CSO Koulibaly has been impervious today. Chelsea have not missed the injured Thiago Silva, and he has ensured it.
- 54' GOOOALLLLL Havertz made no mistake this time and went for the same spot but angled it more accurately. Chelsea are ahead 2-1 on aggregates.
- Oh, wait. The referee ordered for the penalty to be retaken, as Dortmund players encroached the penalty area.
- MISSED He has missed it. Kai Havertz missed from the spot. He sends the keeper the wrong way a little too much, crashing the bottom right bar
- PENALTY The referee gives the decision to Chelsea, and Havertz has claimed responsibility.
- Chelsea are protesting for a penalty. The ball looked to have clearly hit Marius Wolfe's hand.
- Second-half is underway.
- HALFTIME Chelsea went close to doubling their lead on the night and pulling ahead on aggregates, but it was not to be.
- Raheem the Dream!!!—patent pending.
- Raheem Sterling was signed for moments like this. He initially mishit Chillwell's delivery, but the ball stayed within his range, side-stepping his defender clumsily to bury home.
- GOOOOALLLLLLL Raheem Sterling. it was inevitable.
- And it is another chance for Chelsea. Chillwell was isolated in the left-hand channel, but he finished poorly. In this moment and moments like this alone, Chelsea fans will wish Marcos Alonso still wore blue.
- CHANCE How are Chelsea yet to score in this game? A devilish delivery from Chillwell was impeded in the box by Koulibaly's heel. A defender is a defender, I guess. And Raheem Sterling was Raheem Sterling when the rebound fell into his path.
- Kai Havertz!!! what a strike. Salah-esque into the top left corner, but the goal Raheem Sterling strayed offside in the build-up to the goal.
- WOODWORK Kai Havertz's low-driven attempt crashes against the bar. Tunde Young calls him useless, but he has gotten Chelsea's best chance of drawing level on aggregate.
- In the other UCL game on the night, Benfica finally break the deadlock at the Dragao after a consistent wave of pressure, Rafa Silva with the strike, 3-0 aggregate, advantage Benfica.
- 24' Gio Reyna should be doing better there. He was put through on goal and kept dilly-dallying until the angle closed in on him.
- Dortmund's playing out of the back continues to look shaky. There might be something to be had here for Chelsea.
- Wesley Fofana commits a foul in a dangerous area of the pitch. He hands Dortmund a chance from set play.
- 🤕 Dortmund's injury woes pile on with Julian Brandt substituted out of the game after hurting himself.
- Chelsea have Dortmund on the ropes here, they should be one ahead. If they continue to fail to capitalise, this could easily be a rope-a-dope situation.
- 3' CHANCE Raheem Sterling should be doing better there, he let a good chance go begging.
- Finally. We are underway!!!
- If I was to guess the reason for Dortmund's team bus tardiness, my money is on several players needing to use the convenience after a heavy Fufu diet, but don't take my word for it.
- Benfica grabbed an early lead against Scott Parker's side, but the goal was ruled out after VAR review.
- With Chelsea's game starting 10 minutes later, you should tune in to Benfica vs Club Brugge. Nigerian defensive midfielder Raphael Onyedika is named from the start for Club Brugge.
Dortmund enters this tie with a 1-0 lead from the first leg at Signal Iduna Park, thanks to Karim Adeyemi's goal. The Blues will look to return the favour, and will back themselves, as they were victims of poor finishing in the first-leg.
