Ahead of his team's game against Everton, Arteta has talked about his admiration of Sean Dyche
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had only positive words about new Everton boss Sean Dyche as the pair get ready to face each other in the Premier League.
Arteta likes Dyche ‘a lot’
Arsenal and Arteta will be Dyche’s first test as Everton's manager after he replaced the sacked Frank Lampard to stop the Toffees' freefall in the Premier League this season.
Arteta, speaking ahead of the match, said of Dyche “I like the character a lot, the presence and the clarity he brings to his team. Hopefully after tomorrow, he will be a great fit for Everton. When there is a new manager the environment will change, and a lot of things change during the week, so it’s going to be a really tough test.”
Speaking about Everton’s decision to get a manager like Sean Dyche in an attempt to save their season, Arteta said, “They have tried to accommodate the right character for the circumstance the club is in. What Sean and the coaching staff did at Burnley speaks for itself. With the limited resources they had, they got incredible results very consistently in this very tough league.”
Arsenal and Everton in polar circumstances
Arsenal face Everton looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table. They have secured an astonishing 50 points from the opening 19 games of the season after dropping points in only three matches, and doing so in the second half of the season will see them equal Manchester City’s record of 100 points in a single Premier League season.
Standing in their way this weekend will be Everton, who have battles of their own at the other end of the table.
Everton are deep in the relegation battle and are level on points with bottom-of-the-table Southampton but Arteta feels the Gunners still need to be wary, especially as Everton recently made a big change to the team.
On dealing with a new manager Arteta said, “When there is a new manager the environment will change, and a lot of things change during the week, so it’s going to be a really tough test.”
Sean Dyche will also be hoping that he can get a positive result from the Arsenal game to jumpstart his Everton career as he attempts to pull off a great escape
