Arsenal have a mountain to climb in the Champion League quarter-finals against record-champions Real Madrid.

Arsenal face a daunting task in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-finals against European royalty Real Madrid.

The Gunners are out of all domestic cup competitions and far behind  Liverpool in the Premier League race for the title with a handful of games to go.

This leaves coach Mikel Arteta with the UCL as their only possible hunt for glory.

However  in search of their maiden UCL trophy, the Gunners face probably the toughest team in the competitions history, Real Madrid.

The record 15-time UCL champions are looking to extend their dominance in Europe, hoping to defend the title having won it last season after a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Interestingly, Real Madrid have never beaten Arsenal in the UCL.

They squared off twice before in the round of 16 in the 2005-06 season with the Gunners drawing 0-0 at home before beating Real 1-0 away from home thanks to a Thierry Henry goal.

However that was more than a decade ago. So what are their chances in their quarter-final clash poised for Tuesday at the Emirates?

Opta's Super Computer has predicted the Gunners fate, giving them the edge against Real Madrid with a 50.2% chance of progression to the semi-finals while  Real Madrid's chances stand at 49.8%.

If they do get past Real Madrid the Super Computer has tipped Arsenal  to have a chance of 29.5% to get to the final while 15.6% that they lift their maiden UCL title.

If Real Madrid pulls an upset, they are tipped to have a chance of 25.2% to get through to final and 12.2 % to lift their record-extending 16th title.

The Super Computer makes these predictions by estimates of the probability of each match outcome, either win, draw or loss by using betting market odds and the Opta Power Rankings.
