Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praises his team performance in their victory over Manchester City.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was ecstatic about his team's performance and victory against Manchester City, pointing out the turning point for the Gunners.

The North London team defeated the Premier League champions for the first time since 2015, ending a 12-game jinx as they beat them 1-0 at the Emirates.

Gabriel Martinelli was a second-half substitute in place of Trossard and scored the late winner for the Gunners.

What Arteta said

The Spaniard was impressed by his team, saying they pulled off an important win. Arteta admitted his team did not create enough chances but showed discipline to get the result.

The Gunners boss alluded that the second-half was when the game changed for his team, especially with the substitutes, one of which grabbed the winner.

"It is a special one. It has been a long time since the club beat Manchester City," Arteta said, per the BBC

"We felt today could be the day but we needed a big performance from everyone and we had that.

"The players had incredible discipline; they won so many balls. We lacked a bit of threat but overall the atmosphere was just incredible.

"We started the second half really, really well. The subs made a huge difference. Martinelli made a huge effort to be in the game, but nobody believed he would be there.

The medical staff were trembling but he was there and he was excellent. It sends a message to our team, Keep doing what we are doing and stay humble and then we are a very difficult team to beat."
