Arsenal are currently facing multiple injuries and absentee players heading to this season's second London Derby.

Time is ticking towards the second London derby. The first one saw Chelsea give up their lead to Crystal palace and now Arsenal and Tottenham plan to batter each other on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard suffered an ankle injury during Norway’s UEFA Nations League match against Austria, forcing him to leave the field in the second half. Initially diagnosed as a "small ankle sprain" by Norway's team doctor Ola Sand, Ødegaard's condition remains under scrutiny.

The player was seen using crutches upon his return to London, and his participation in the derby is now in serious doubt.

Arsenal plans to conduct an MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury, but early signs suggest he could be out for a while.

Adding to Arsenal’s woes, new signing Mikel Merino is sidelined with a fractured shoulder, expected to be out until October.

The midfielder picked up the injury during a training session shortly after joining from Real Sociedad.

Additionally, Declan Rice will miss the derby due to suspension, following his red card against Brighton.

Defender Riccardo Calafiori, who also suffered an injury during the international break, is back in London and working to be fit for the game, but his participation remains uncertain.

Tactical Adjustments

Manager Mikel Arteta faces tough decisions as he navigates these absences.

He may opt to deploy Kai Havertz in an advanced role, with Raheem Sterling potentially making his debut.

The midfield will rely on Thomas Partey and Jorginho, while youngsters like Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly could be called upon.

With Arsenal currently fourth in the Premier League and Tottenham in 10th, this derby is crucial for both teams. Arsenal’s injury issues will test their depth and resilience in what promises to be a high-stakes encounter.
